Vascular cognitive impairment: When memory loss is not the biggest challenge (2023)Vascular cognitive impairment (Dichgans & Leys, 2017; van der Flier et al., 2018) is a term that resembles the continuum of cognitive disorder from mild cognitive changes to dementia, associated with cerebrovascular disease. This includes diagnoses such as mild cognitive impairment due to cerebrovascular pathology, cognitive impairment after stroke and vascular dementia. This article focuses on the care needs of people living with vascular cognitive impairment.
