Public library partnership

Purpose

Public libraries are essential in helping communities access reliable health information.
We’re grateful for your continued support in raising awareness of Dementia Australia and its services across the country.
Why this is important

  • Dementia is the leading cause of death for Australian women and the second leading cause of death of all Australians
  • In 2025 there are an estimated 433,300 Australians living with dementia and an additional 1.7 million people in Australia involved in the care of someone living with dementia.
  • 2 in 3 people with dementia are thought to be living in the community.

This guide is designed to support Australian public libraries in enriching their local collections by integrating access to the Dementia Australia library service.

Our library provides complimentary access to a wide array of print and digital resources dedicated to dementia. These materials are intended to assist individuals living with dementia, their families, friends, and carers, as well as professionals working in dementia care, allied health, and related fields.
